As a Director, you play a pivotal leadership role guiding clients and teams through the complexities of launching products and services with impact. You’ll set strategic direction, forecast shifting category dynamics, and help organizations prioritize where and how to win. Directors are trusted advisors to senior leaders, bringing foresight, clarity, and confidence to high-stakes decisions. Equally, they are team leaders that orient multidisciplinary groups around consumer needs, elevate the contributions of others, and ensure narratives and recommendations are sharp, creative, and influential.
What you will do:
- Define and drive GTM strategy at both product and portfolio levels, ensuring plans align with client business goals, revenue targets, and long-term objectives;
- Create early-stage product strategies that help clients move from 0-to-1;
- Guide research and insight efforts, directing teams in market research, customer validation, and competitive analysis to uncover growth opportunities and target audiences;
- Provide market foresight and interpret industry shifts and customer trends to help clients anticipate change and identify whitespace;
- Shape product positioning and narratives, ensuring messaging and frameworks communicate compelling value propositions rooted in consumer insight;
- Advise on business models and market approaches, demonstrating strong commercial acumen and alignment between strategy and business outcomes;
- Orchestrate cross-functional execution, collaborating with sales, product, marketing, and customer success to ensure GTM alignment and impact;
- Serve as a trusted client partner and strengthen relationships by anticipating risks, clarifying strategic requirements, managing expectations, guiding them through organizational complexities;
- Define success metrics and provide investment guidance, tracking KPIs and ROI to optimize GTM performance;

- Contribute to business growth, shaping proposals, POVs, and pitches, and serving as a visible strategic voice in new business conversations.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of client side or consulting experience in product/service development, enterprise innovation, or corporate strategy;
- Proven track record of designing and executing go-to-market strategies for products, services, or business units;
- Ability to translate market insights into actionable strategies that drive adoption, growth, and revenue;
- Experience leading senior level clients and C-suite;
- Thrives working in ambiguity with tight timelines;
- Willing to travel up to 30% for client meetings.
In New York City, the base salary for this position is $160-175K. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors including years of relevant skills and experience, level of responsibility, and qualifications. This position reports into our Chief Strategy Officer.
Proto is a New York based company with offices at 3 World Trade. Our staff is encouraged to work-from-office on days of their choosing based on personal preferences, collaboration moments, client meetings, and all-company gatherings. We also support workplace flexibility and have made work-from-anywhere available to all staff (within a 3-hour time zone of eastern standard time zone). Our core business hours are generally 9:30am-6:00pm EST; however, due to our client service model and collaborative working culture, individual working hours fluctuate to reflect client deadlines and deliverables.
