Director, CEO Communications
at MongoDB
Palo Alto, United States
MongoDB is looking for a Director, CEO Communications to support the CEO across key communications moments for the company. This is a highly strategic, hands-on individual contributor role responsible for shaping and executing a clear, consistent narrative across customers, investors, and employees.
The person in this role will help connect the dots across quarterly earnings, company All Hands, flagship customer events such as .local, and other key leadership moments. They will work closely with the CEO, CMO, the CEO’s Chief of Staff, Investor Relations, and cross-functional partners to ensure our messaging is aligned, credible, and grounded in the business.
This is not a traditional communications manager role. We are looking for someone who can move quickly from strategy to draft to execution, operate with sound judgment in high-visibility moments, and serve as a trusted partner to the CEO. The right candidate is a strong writer, practical operator, and visual storyteller who is comfortable working across functions and audiences with speed, precision, and low ego. This person must be able to distill complex product roadmaps and financial data into a conversational narrative without losing technical accuracy.
The ideal candidate brings experience from high-growth, venture-backed, or founder-led environments and understands how to pair strong executive communications with external narrative-building.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the CEO to shape and execute communications across internal, customer, and investor audiences
- Help develop and maintain a clear, consistent narrative across key company moments, including earnings, All Hands, .local, and other executive engagements
- Draft speeches, scripts, talking points, presentations, internal communications, and other executive content in a voice that is authentic to the CEO
- Partner with creative teams and roll up your sleeves to translate complex ideas into compelling visual narratives, including keynote decks, executive presentations, and digital content
- Work across the CMO, Chief of Staff, Investor Relations, Corporate Communications, Events, Brand, and Product Marketing teams to align messaging and execution
- Translate company strategy, product momentum, and market context into clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate communications
- Partner with Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, and external agencies to help shape and amplify MongoDB’s executive and corporate narrative across priority external audiences and moments
- Support the CEO in real time before and during major moments, including preparation, iteration, and follow-through
- Adapt messages for different audiences, including employees, customers, analysts, and investors, while maintaining consistency in the core story
- Bring speed, discipline, and strong judgment to a fast-moving environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
- Travel regularly to support the CEO at key internal, customer, and investor moments
Candidate Profile
- 10+ years of experience in executive communications, corporate communications, investor relations, or a related field in a high-growth tech environment
- Experience supporting a CEO or senior executive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment; public company experience is a plus
- Strong preference for experience in high-growth, venture-backed, or founder-led environments where executive storytelling and market narrative materially shape company perception
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the proven ability to capture and adapt an executive’s voice across formats
- Strong visual instincts and the ability to storyboard complex concepts and shape presentations that reinforce the message
- Proven ability to work effectively with senior marketing leaders, Chiefs of Staff, and Investor Relations teams
- Strong technical fluency and the ability to communicate clearly about data, AI, infrastructure, and modern application development
- Comfortable operating as a hands-on individual contributor who can move from a rough outline to a polished, CEO-ready draft or deck in high-pressure windows
- Low ego, high ownership, and a willingness to iterate quickly based on feedback
- Based in New York City or Palo Alto, with a willingness to travel regularly in support of the CEO
