PagerDuty is seeking a Design & Research Operations Manager to join our diverse, customer-focused team! As Design & Research Operations Manager, you will be a strategic partner to the Design Leadership team, driving operational excellence and innovation across our design practice. In this pivotal role, you will shape the strategic vision for design operations while collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams to amplify PagerDuty's design impact. You will architect operational frameworks, optimize design processes, and build scalable systems that enable our teams to deliver exceptional user experiences. This is an exciting opportunity to be a transformative force in how PagerDuty's design team operates, innovates, and delivers business value. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with experience in design operations, research coordination, and a proven track record of implementing systems that elevate team performance and drive organizational success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead operational aspects of the design team, including tool management, budget oversight, and asset library maintenance
  • Maintain design team rituals, including design sprints, cross-functional workshops, and office hours
  • Coordinate research operations, including participant recruitment, interview scheduling, and insights management
  • Maintain documentation, guidelines, and processes for design-engineering collaboration
  • Drive efficiency in design operations through process improvements and automation initiatives
  • Create and maintain comprehensive onboarding programs for new design team members
  • Proactively identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement solutions
  • Partner with design leadership to establish operational vision and strategic priorities.
  • Define, track, and report on key performance indicators for design team efficiency and impact
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance design culture through team-building initiatives and cross-functional partnerships

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in Design Operations, Research Operations, or a similar role
  • Experience with vendor management, ideally managing design tools and systems (e.g., Figma, Fullstory, design libraries)
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Experience creating and maintaining design/research documentation and guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and drive initiatives independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with design systems and component libraries
  • Experience developing and implementing onboarding programs (design team)
  • Experience with research participant recruitment and management
  • Experience working for enterprise software companies
  • Knowledge of UX research methodologies and best practices
  • Track record of implementing measurable process improvements and KPIs
  • Experience in change management and organizational transformation

This role is expected to come into our Atlanta office 2 days per week, so you can thrive in your new role and fully embrace being a Dutonian!

The base salary range for this position is 121,000 - 205,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.

Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
