Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Stewardship of Business Data Models
- Define, document, and maintain enterprise and domain-level business data models aligned with DDD principles.
- Establish clear boundaries and ownership across data domains, subdomains, and aggregates.
- Translate business concepts into canonical models used across data products, APIs, and analytical solutions.
- Collaborative Data Design
- Facilitate modeling workshops with business and technical teams to ensure consistent understanding and usage of data definitions.
- Engage with domain experts and product managers to identify core entities, value objects, and relationships that drive business processes.
- Use techniques like Event Modeling and Event Storming to align system design with business workflows and real-time data flows
- Collaborate across teams to address data challenges, improve quality, and promote standardization
- Lead inclusive data stewardship practices through training, documentation, and knowledge-sharing forums
- Collaborate with product to define data responsibilities, KPIs, and SLAs for key data assets
- Act as a subject matter expert in data governance, modeling, and architecture to promote alignment in data-driven decision-making
- Data Governance & Quality Alignment
- Work with data governance, compliance, and privacy teams to ensure models align with regulatory and organizational data policies.
- Contribute to metadata management by integrating business glossary and model metadata into data catalogs and lineage tools.
- Maintain metadata repositories and ensure clear data lineage and traceability
- Serve as a data steward for enterprise domains, driving data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across platforms
- Develop data governance policies that support privacy, security, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA)
- Maintain accessible data dictionaries, standards, and classification frameworks to support clarity and consistency
- Support Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives to deliver trusted, unified data across the organization
- Platform Integration
- Ensure business data models inform and align with physical data models in the data platform (e.g., data lake, warehouse, semantic layers).
- Support the creation of reusable and interoperable data contracts for analytical and operational use cases.
- Establish validation rules and perform audits to ensure ongoing data quality and usability
What you’ll bring:
- Required:
- 5+ years in data modeling, business analysis, data architecture, or related disciplines.
- Strong experience with domain driven design (DDD) in data or service architecture contexts.
