This is a 12-week internship during summer 2027.
Join the Credit Risk team within the Financial & Operational Risk subteam of Finance. You'll support the underwriting, monitoring, and analysis of counterparty and asset-level credit risk across Coinbase's global institutional client base. Working alongside risk professionals and product teams, you'll gain hands-on experience evaluating complex exposures in digital asset lending and trading, and your work will directly inform credit decisions and risk reporting for leadership.
What you'll do:
- Underwrite institutional counterparties, including hedge funds, asset managers, corporates, market makers, and banking and payment providers, recommending internal credit ratings and risk-based limits with written substantiation.
- Monitor trading and bank partner exposures on an ongoing basis, conducting periodic portfolio reviews and flagging concentration risks or emerging trends to leadership.
- Analyze asset volatility and liquidity risks on a per-asset and portfolio basis to support lending and trading product decisions.
- Collaborate with product, sales, operations, and legal teams to resolve client or product challenges and deliver risk-informed solutions.
- Research industry trends, regulatory developments, and crypto market dynamics to contribute to the team's thought leadership and continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline with an expected graduation date of December 2026 or later.
- Demonstrated interest in financial and capital markets, with coursework or projects involving credit analysis, financial statement interpretation, or portfolio risk concepts.
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for quantitative analysis, including modeling, scenario analysis, or data summarization.
- Familiarity with the crypto economy or digital assets, or a demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new financial product domains.
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality
