About the Role

As a Compensation Analyst at Instacart, you'll support the building of the infrastructure, intelligence, and innovations that power our compensation function. You’ll maintain core compensation processes, contribute to evolving our tools, and provide timely data analyses that inform program decisions. You’ll work closely with compensation professionals, people analytics, and people technology teams to improve both day-to-day operations and ongoing projects.

This role will report to our Manager, Compensation, and offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of compensation programs.

About the Team

The Compensation team sits within the broader Total Rewards & Workplace umbrella and is responsible for delivering competitive, equitable, and data-driven compensation programs. We cover all aspects of compensation - including executive, broad-based, sales, and equity  - and stay at the forefront of market trends to help attract, retain, and motivate top talent. s our business evolves, we are constantly innovating our approach, offering unique opportunities to shape outcomes and drive impact at scale.

 

About the Job

  • Assist in building, maintaining, and updating datasets, dashboards, and tools that support compensation programs, market analysis, and job architecture.
  • Work with the HR Tech/Operations teams to update our systems with current data and compensation changes; audit workforce data on a recurring basis and contribute to process improvement initiatives addressing operational pain points, “tech debt,” and data hygiene.
  • Partner with compensation team members and technology partners in migrating manual processes into scalable, sustainable systems.
  • Analyze data, highlight trends, and help translate findings into actionable insights for the comp team and partners.
  • Help develop and document and update best practices for compensation processes and analytics.
  • Serve as a resource for complex, ad hoc comp analyses and special projects.

 

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in compensation, HR/people analytics, recruiting analytics, early-career consulting (e.g., management consulting, people-focused consulting), or other analytical/data-focused roles.
  • Interest and curiosity in tool-building, automation, or process improvement - with a willingness to learn and experiment with new technologies (AI/automation, BI platforms, or scripting).
  • Strong technical skills in Excel/Sheets and a desire to develop further with advanced data tools (e.g., SQL, R, BI platforms).

Preferred Qualifications 

  • AI-curious: motivated to explore how AI and automation can improve compensation processes or data analysis.
  • Effective written and verbal communicator, able to clearly share data and analysis with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and eager to contribute to team goals.
  • Curious, resourceful, and a drive for continuous learning and improvement.

 

Instacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work. This role is remote and the base pay range for a successful candidate is dependent on their permanent work location. Please review our Flex First remote work policy here. Currently, we are only hiring in the following provinces: Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
