The difference you will make:

As the Communications Lead for Brazil, you will be responsible for developing and driving our communications strategy in all of the country. This role will form part of the local leadership team, and will help craft strategies aimed at protecting the company’s reputation, while supporting the company’s voice on a range of topics including building brand awareness, supporting our global narrative, and addressing local needs when it comes to government relations, taxes and legal matters among others. 

You must be comfortable and confident in working directly with cross-functional teams, journalists and influencers, managing external agencies, and developing and delivering communications plans that support business and policy objectives. We’re looking for an effective and creative communications leader who has the ability to explain complex ideas in simple ways.

The role will report to the Regional Communications Director for Latin America. 

A typical day:

  • Develop a long-term communications strategy that supports Airbnb Brazil’s business, brand and policy objectives.
  • Create, implement and manage strategic communication programs to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external constituencies.
  • Lead corporate, policy and crisis communications initiatives in Brazil.
  • Track emerging issues and assess their potential impact on Airbnb; map key stakeholders and build coalitions to drive Airbnb's corporate, brand and policy agenda. 
  • Manage PR agency to support strategic initiatives and develop communications materials, including story pitches, messaging guidelines, press releases, Q&As, presentations and speeches.
  • Manage influencer agency and oversee the end-to-end execution of influencer campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand objectives and clear communication of key messages to drive impactful collaborations that elevate brand awareness.
  • Craft compelling consumer-focused PR campaigns that help build brand awareness throughout Brazil and helps deliver on our company’s narrative of bringing hosts, guests and communities together. 
  • Work with company spokespeople to prepare them for public speaking engagements, media interviews, and company meetings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and represent communications on the Brazil leadership team.
  • Must be comfortable with using data to shape stories and use for various local news angles.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective cross functional collaboration with other departments and within the overall policy & communications department.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clear organizational structure in the market and overall team performance.
  • Responsible for, in partnership with other managers on the team, career development of team members.
  • Oversee budget management and administrative processes for communications campaigns and programs in Brazil, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, accurate tracking of expenditures, and streamlined workflows.

Your Expertise: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field
  • 12+ years Communications experience, in-house experience is preferred
  • Solid understanding of Brazil’s policy matters as they relate to the travel industry with a proven-track record working on communications initiatives involving corporate, policy and crisis communications
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-functional leads in a matrix organization
  • Excellent writing skills both in English and Portuguese with samples to share 
  • Passion for Airbnb and the mission of the company
  • Experience working on projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal communications and interpersonal skills 
  • Maintaining enthusiasm and calm demeanor in stressful situations
  • Has outstanding presence when dealing with executives and a strong ability to influence business decisions
  • ​​Demonstrates sound judgment and takes decisive action in high-pressure communications scenarios
  • An international outlook and passion for travel

Your Location:

This position is based in São Paulo, Brazil - Hybrid. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range shown below is monthly, is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
