What you’ll do
As part of our lively and energetic finance team, the Commercial Partner works closely with the client services team to manage a portfolio of clients. You'll ensure accurate revenue recognition, financial reporting, and compliance, while providing crucial insights into profitability and working capital to support strategic decisions. Your proactive approach and strong business partnering skills will be essential in identifying opportunities and fostering strong relationships.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete revenue recognition and reporting in accordance with WPP Policies and IFRS for client portfolio for month end/year end
- Ensure processes in place for SOX compliance
- Reviewing documentation for month end revenue recognition
- Preparing journals with supporting documentation and sending to Financeplus for posting
- Ensure that at month end close all finance systems (Maconomy, Sugar and SAP BFC) are in alignment
- Weekly revenue meetings with Client Services to review project status of assigned portfolio of clients. Identifying any risks or opportunities. Flag any concerns to Senior Commercial Partner.
- Monitoring contract compliance and creation of crib sheets that highlight key commercial areas account teams should be aware of and provide training accordingly
- Provide data and analysis for revenue focussing on profitability and flagging under/over servicing.
- Analyse, and interpret data to support decision making.
- Preparation of realisation, profitability and utilisation reporting for client portfolio.
- Reviewing WIP balances and dealing with aging to ensure no balances over 30 days
- Responsible for ensuring that all costs and fees are billed on time, including intercompany
- Document and seek approval for any credit notes, revenue reversals or write offs
- Supporting the business in respect of Inter-Office Agreements ensuring accurate accounting of fee sharing
- Set up of new clients, including due diligence as per WPP policy
- Reviewing AR report distributed by Financeplus and following up and resolving any queries/issues
- Prepare monthly working capital report for CFO and Senior Commercial Partner
- Provide input into monthly management information packs, including variance analysis
- Supporting Senior Commercial Partner with budget and forecast cycle for client portfolio
- Supporting client services with proposals and RFP’s as required
- Supporting Senior Commercial Partner with internal/external or clients audits as necessary
- Support the commercial financial induction process for all Client Service new starters
What you’ll need

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Part Qualified Accountant CIMA/ACCA
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel
- Finance system experience, preferably Maconomy
- A strong understanding of IFRS15 and SOX controls required
- Solid technical knowledge of P&L and Balance sheet
