The Role

The role of Senior Client Principal reporting to the Head of Public / Private Sector is responsible for building preferred relationships and strategic opportunity with our largest clients and in so going maximize the mutual value of our long term relationship and Thoughtworks long-term revenue growth. This is a critical commercial role with ownership of all aspects of Thoughtworks business in our strategic clients, with a key focus on originating and winning new opportunities to position Thoughtworks for step-change growth.

Job responsibilities

  • Generate and develop senior business relationships and sales pipeline with strategic Tier 1 clients with a focus on maximising long term client value and Thoughtworks strategic positioning, revenue and profitability.
  • Proactively originate large and differentiated enterprise sales opportunities that align to strategic client business outcomes and drive significant ongoing account revenue growth.
  • Executive oversight, team leadership and senior client management to support the successful execution of long term and complex transformation programs.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams and effectively interact with all other relevant internal departments including Service Lines, Finance, Legal, Staffing and Professional Services teams.
  • Forge a close partnership with UK Management teams, to foster energy and support for developing projects and new market propositions alike.
  • Build investment strategies to strengthen and progress Thoughtworks client relationships and positioning through a multi year evolutionary approach.

Technical Skills

  • Whilst this is a fully commercial role, Thoughtworks is a “technology at core” organisation. We have found that sales leaders who possess a good understanding of the latest digital capabilities as well as the key aspects of agile can often navigate our organisation’s ethos and offerings best. 
  • With this in mind Thoughtworks is seeking a broad range of key skill sets to match the very interesting proposition we are working towards.
  • You have a track record of leading large enterprise clients, developing long term and strategic relationships that deliver in excess of £30m annual revenues and impressive yoy growth.
  • You have originated and won large complex solution opportunities of £20m+ aligned with the experience of delivering an exceptional execution experience for clients.
  • You are experienced in expanding client dialogues to maximize opportunity value and gain insight into business outcomes and in aligning sales activities and solutions to client value.
  • You have excelled at executive level customer relationship management, and can thrive via a reciprocal and non-hierarchical work style.
  • You are experienced in the business, team and client leadership of long term and complex transformation programs.
  • You are comfortable finding your way in an ambiguous environment, you thrive on autonomy and are willing to be held accountable for your actions and results.
  • You have considerable experience defining and executing new business growth strategies and of building new opportunity pipelines for technology solutions at executive level.
  • You will have led and developed high caliber teams looking to thrive in frenetic fast-growing conditions and have the ability to bring order, structure, and direction.

  • You exemplify high EQ and IQ in order to work with empathy in an organisation with a very creative culture of talented people.
  • You are an exceptional communicator, who can influence at board level, while being flexible and adaptable enough to collaborate with internal teams on complex delivery solutions.
  • You can bring in a broad network of industry contacts to improve and strengthen Thoughtworks’ presence in the market.
  • You should be technically astute in the latest technology trends and practices.
  • You are well versed in agile and lean practices and programmes, and should be able to demonstrate understanding of how these projects are executed.
