Given the nature of this position, the role will be based in the Emeryville office at least 1-2 days per week to provide in-person support to the CEO.
What The Role Is
Babylist is seeking a strategic Chief of Staff to amplify the impact of our CEO. In this role you will act as a senior operator and proxy for the CEO, driving complex, high-impact initiatives that free her to focus on long-term strategy. You will lead 2–4 of the most critical projects at any given time, codify strategy into clear narratives for board and exec stakeholders, and provide executional leverage across the business.
Own and deliver high-priority initiatives such as product initiatives, strategic market evaluations, and other bespoke projects requiring senior judgment. This is a senior operator role with direct exposure to executive decision-making and company-wide strategy.
Who You Are
- A strategic operator with at least 10+ years of experience in consulting, product, general management or consulting with demonstrated operating experience, at a high-growth, scaling startup organization.
- Exceptional program/project management skills, broad business acumen, and the ability to align teams across functions to drive results.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to inform decision-making, optimize processes, and identify growth opportunities Able to translate insights into actionable strategy and execution plans.
- Experience supporting strategic positioning for executive communications, including preparing for high-stakes talks, presentations, and cross-functional strategy discussions.
- Skilled at crafting compelling narratives in decks, memos, and presentations for internal and external audiences, including investors and board members.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multiple strategic initiatives and projects in a cross-functional environment on tight deadlines.
- Comfortable moving between ambiguity and structure—able to both set strategy and execute with precision.
- Adept at driving alignment across executive leaders and ensuring accountability on critical initiatives.
- You exercise excellent judgment, handle confidential information with care, and build credibility quickly.
- Thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with a bias for action and high emotional intelligence.
- Strong product and technical fluency; financial acumen a plus but not the primary focus.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Lead 2–4 of the company’s highest-priority projects at a time, from problem definition to execution.
- Own bespoke initiatives such as potential acquisitions, strategic product proposals, and cross-functional alignment projects.
- Gather and analyze data, assess market trends, and provide insights and recommendations to inform key decision-making processes.
- Provide leverage by ensuring strategic initiatives move forward independently, freeing the CEO to focus on long-term vision.
- Prepare and position CEO communications strategically for high-stakes talks, board updates, and company-wide strategy presentations.
- Codify company strategy into narratives, decks, and frameworks that resonate across audiences (board, execs, cross functional teams).
- Lead special projects such as market scans, acquisitions landscape, or engineering resource planning, depending on company needs.
- Evaluate strategic opportunities (including partnerships or acquisitions) when relevant, with a focus on product/consumer alignment rather than financial engineering.
- Manage complex projects and critical initiatives, define objectives, establish timelines, coordinate stakeholders, and monitor progress to ensure successful outcomes.

Babylist follows a market-based approach to compensation, with pay varying based on location, experience, and qualifications. In compliance with applicable pay transparency laws, the starting salary range for this role is $255,300.00 to $269,500.00, representing the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this position.
Your starting salary within this range will be determined based on your skills, experience, and work location, with future adjustments informed by role growth, performance, and internal pay equity.
