About the team + role
We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world’s biggest financial problems. We’re looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn’t a place for complacency, it’s where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We’re a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.
The Brokerage Risk team is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the firm’s operations. Within this team, the Data Solutions & Analytics function leverages data engineering, automation, and AI to boost transparency and improve supervisory controls. We work closely with partners in engineering, product, operations, compliance, and legal to deliver tools that improve oversight and streamline processes!
As a Brokerage Risk Intern, you will join a hands-on, technical environment where you’ll build and test real-world risk management tools, analyze live brokerage data, and help automate processes that safeguard our customers and firm. You’ll collaborate with risk managers, engineers, and product teams to design solutions that detect, visualize, and mitigate risks at scale.
This role is based in our Chicago, New York, or Denver offices, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.
What you’ll do

- Partner with data engineers and analysts to develop dashboards that visualize real-time risk metrics, exposures, and performance trends.
- Support data-driven investigations into brokerage risks (e.g., trading anomalies, process breaks, or control failures) and propose solutions.
- Assist with GenAI-enabled projects—like improving document classification or enhancing automation of books and records, access management, and test account oversight.
- Present findings and prototypes to senior leaders, showcasing how technology can make risk management faster, smarter, and more scalable.
What you bring
- You’re pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- You have foundational experience in SQL and Python and a strong interest in applying these skills to real-world financial and risk problems.
- You have exposure to automation, machine learning, and AI—and excited to see how they can transform risk management.
- You’re analytical, precise, and detail-oriented, with the ability to communicate complex data insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
- You thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments and demonstrate accountability, curiosity, and ethical judgment in your work.
