Strava is growing! We are thrilled to be looking for an experienced Benefits Analyst to join our People team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in our People Operations team and supporting our high performing, people-oriented workplace. You will work closely with our People team leaders, our People business partners, our Talent team, and with teammates at all levels across Strava. Specifically, you will lead and manage the administration of US employee benefits programs, leaves of absence, and immigration processes.
As a member of the People team and reporting to the Director of People Operations, you will embody our “people-first” culture and continually improve our employee experience via contributing to our People programs and projects. We are passionate about supporting each of our teammates by building equitable and inclusive policies, programs, and practices. It is important that our Benefits Analyst share similar passions and is committed to helping incorporate equitable strategies and policies into Strava's culture and processes over time.
We follow a flexible hybrid model that generally translates to half your time on-site in our San Francisco office— three days per week.
What You’ll Do:
Benefits Administration (50%)
- Lead all aspects of day-to-day administration of U.S. employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA, 401(k), wellness, and commuter benefits.
- Lead annual open enrollment processes, including vendor coordination, system configuration, employee communication, and issue resolution.
- Ensure accurate benefits data in HRIS and third-party platforms; handle interfaces between systems.
- Evaluate and recommend plan design changes based on benchmarking, utilization, and cost analysis.
- Collaborate with Finance, Payroll, and Legal teams to ensure detailed reporting, deductions, and adherence (e.g., ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA).
- Act as the main liaison for benefits vendors and brokers, coordinating performance and service delivery.
Leaves of Absence (25%)
- Lead all U.S. leave of absence programs, including FMLA, ADA, parental leave, short- and long-term disability, and other state-specific leaves.
- Fulfill the role of expert and key contact for staff and supervisors in relation to leave policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to leaves.
- Work with Payroll and HR partners to ensure accurate leave tracking, pay continuity, and return-to-work processes.
Immigration (25%)
- Lead employment-based immigration processes for U.S. employees.
- Partner with immigration counsel to ensure timely and compliant case filings.
- Maintain internal immigration records and reporting; support audits and compliance requests.
- Communicate immigration policies and processes clearly to employees and managers; provide guidance on work authorization issues.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- 4+ years experience in U.S. benefits administration, with hands-on experience handling leaves of absence and immigration programs.
- You've thrived in a scale-up environment and understand the unique challenges of rapid growth
- Proficiency in understanding and translating complex regulations into clear, employee-friendly language.
- Solid understanding of federal and state benefits and leave regulations (e.g., ERISA, FMLA, ACA, ADA, HIPAA, state PFML laws).
- Focusing on the details, but always mindful of the big picture.
- Exercising good judgment when handling sensitive situations.
- Excellent project management skills with experience leading multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
Compensation Overview:
At Strava, we know our employees are the most important ingredient to our success, and our compensation and total rewards programs reflect that. We take a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on the department and your location. Salary ranges are categorized into one of three tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. We will determine the candidate’s starting pay based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. We may modify these ranges in the future. Compensation: $136,000 - $145,000. This range reflects base compensation only and does not include equity or benefits. Your recruiter can share more details about the full compensation package, including the range specific to your location, during the hiring process.
