About the role:
We’re looking for an Assistant General Counsel to join our legal team. This role is designed for a mid-level attorney who thrives on variety, tackling everything from commercial contracts and financial regulatory questions to product development and regulatory compliance issues. You’ll be a trusted advisor across the business and will have the chance to work on a wide range of legal issues in a fast-moving fintech environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a versatile legal advisor across Branch’s business units, balancing commercial, product, compliance, and corporate needs
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements (customer, vendor, partnership, marketing, and technology)
- Provide practical guidance on financial technology law matters, privacy, IP, and corporate governance as they arise
- Support product teams on development and go-to-market strategies, ensuring alignment with wage & hour, payments, and consumer financial protection laws
- Partner with Compliance and Risk teams to operationalize regulatory requirements and advise on policy updates
- Assist with corporate governance, including board materials, and corporate filings
- Develop templates, playbooks, and scalable processes to improve efficiency and consistency across the Legal team
- Collaborate directly with senior leadership on strategic initiatives and risk management
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active membership in at least one state bar
- 4-7 years of legal experience, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house practice
- Broad-based legal experience; ability to spot issues across commercial contracts, corporate, employment, and regulatory domains
- Experience in fintech, financial services, or another highly regulated industry strongly preferred
- Strong judgment and business sense; ability to balance legal risk with business priorities
- Excellent communication skills, with a practical, solution-oriented approach
- Comfort working independently in a dynamic, high-growth environment while collaborating across functions
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $200-250k.
The salary range displayed reflects an average base salary range for the position across all the U.S. The base salary offered to an applicant could be higher or lower based on each applicant's specific skill set, depth of experience, relevant education or training, etc.
Location:
This position is classified as REMOTE within the United States of America.
We are unable to hire candidates located outside of the domestic U.S.
