Air Pricing Manager
SUMMARY:
The Air Pricing Manager is a strategic role responsible for developing, executing, and leading the air freight pricing strategy for all major regional and global tenders (RFPs) and complex customer solutions across the Asia-Pacific network. This role acts as the primary commercial advisor to the Sales and Product leadership, driving profitability and market competitiveness.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Strategic Pricing and Commercial Leadership
- RFP Strategy Ownership: Lead the end-to-end air pricing response for regional and global RFPs, developing "win strategies" that balance market competitiveness with optimal profitability targets.
- Solution Design & Costing: Collaborate closely with the Solutions and Operations teams to architect complex, multi-modal air logistics solutions and accurately cost non-standard services to ensure margin integrity.
- Commercial Risk Management: Analyze and mitigate commercial risks associated with pricing, including currency fluctuations, market volatility, and capacity constraints across various APAC lanes.
- Profitability Guardrail: Act as the final gatekeeper for major pricing proposals, ensuring all rates adhere to corporate margin mandates and regional profit objectives.
Stakeholder Management and Influence
- Executive Presentation: Present complex pricing models, market analysis, and commercial recommendations directly to regional Sales, Product, and executive leadership.
- Internal Negotiation: Negotiate and align pricing approaches with senior Sales leaders, challenging proposals when necessary to safeguard P&L objectives.
- Carrier/Vendor Liaison: Work alongside Procurement to leverage strategic carrier relationships and secure highly competitive, non-public rates that enhance tender success.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME): Serve as the go-to expert for all APAC air freight market intelligence, capacity updates, and competitive trends
Identify and lead initiatives to fine-tune processes, increase profitability for the region
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in the regional pricing workflow, leveraging new technologies (e.g., pricing tools, data analytics) to increase speed, accuracy, and scalability.
- Reporting & Analytics: Develop and maintain high-impact pricing reports and dashboards that provide clear insights into pricing performance, win/loss ratio analysis, and margin erosion/gain.
- Drive the improvements on Pricing tools with Tech team.
- Mentorship & Coaching: Provide guidance and training to junior team members (Pricing Associates/Analysts) on best practices, analytical techniques, and market trends.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- BA/BS and 7-10 years of related work experience
- Knowledge of Air products and technology within the industry
- Experience with regard to export from a pricing or procurement perspective.
- Excellent English communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Analytical skills and metric / data based approach to solving problems
- Strategic vision and ground floor execution
