The Actuarial team at Clover combines rigorous analytics with innovative technology to solve complex healthcare challenges and improve outcomes for our members. Our actuaries play a critical role in driving financial performance, evaluating business strategies, and helping shape the future of Medicare Advantage.
We're looking for a highly analytical and intellectually curious Actuarial Analyst to join Clover's actuarial rotational program. This role is designed to provide broad exposure to multiple actuarial disciplines while building a strong technical foundation in Medicare Advantage.
As an Actuarial Analyst, you'll work alongside experienced actuaries and business leaders on projects spanning financial forecasting, reserving, medical economics, pricing, value-based care, revenue and risk adjustment analysis, and operational strategy. Through rotational assignments, you'll develop a comprehensive understanding of the Medicare Advantage business while building the analytical, technical, and business skills needed for long-term success.
This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy solving challenging problems, working with large datasets, and using quantitative analysis to influence business decisions.
As an Actuarial Analyst, you will:
- Perform quantitative analyses that support key actuarial functions, including financial forecasting, medical cost analysis, revenue optimization, reserving, pricing, risk adjustment, and value-based care initiatives.
- Develop and maintain analytical models using actuarial principles, statistical methods, and large healthcare datasets to evaluate financial performance, identify trends, and support strategic decision-making.
- Partner with actuaries and cross-functional business leaders to analyze operational and financial performance, investigate emerging trends, and develop data-driven recommendations.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and executive presentations that communicate complex analytical findings and support business planning, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
- Support enterprise financial planning by analyzing medical costs, revenue drivers, risk adjustment performance, utilization trends, and other key business metrics across the Medicare Advantage business.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and automate analyses using SQL, Excel, Python, and other AI analytical tools.
- Participate in rotational assignments across multiple actuarial disciplines to develop broad business knowledge and technical expertise while contributing to strategic initiatives across the organization.
- Support special projects and innovation initiatives that improve healthcare affordability, operational performance, member outcomes, and enterprise financial results.
Success in this role looks like
- In your first 90 days, you will: Build relationships across the Actuarial organization and become familiar with Clover's Medicare Advantage business. Learn Clover's analytical tools, financial models, and reporting processes. Contribute to recurring analyses while developing a strong understanding of actuarial methodologies and business operations.
- After 6 months, you will: Independently own recurring analyses and deliver accurate, timely insights to support business decision-making. Develop technical expertise in actuarial modeling, healthcare analytics, and financial forecasting. Successfully complete your first rotational assignment while building relationships across multiple actuarial functions.
- Future success in this role includes: Becoming a trusted analytical partner to business leaders and cross-functional teams. Developing expertise across multiple actuarial disciplines before transitioning into a specialized role. Continuing progress toward actuarial credentials while building a long-term career at Clover.
