As one of the first Engineering Managers in the Networking team at Databricks India, you will be focussing on building new backend connectivity services that powers millions of VMs running on Databricks. You will also be leading the design and development of new services that powers the connectivity between our control plane and compute plane. This new platform enables Databricks to increase scalability of our compute plane while also efficiently use cloud resources.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and other engineering teams, to ensure the delivery of robust, scalable, and efficient networking systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about solving novel multi-cloud and distributed systems challenges
The impact you will have:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers responsible for maintaining and optimizing MySQL infrastructure and best practices.
- Collaborate with software engineering and other stakeholders to improve database access patterns and performance.
- Develop and implement strategies for proactive failure detection and resolution to ensure database reliability and availability.
- Oversee the implementation of best practices for database design, security, and access management.
- Drive strategic initiatives to enhance the scalability, performance, and resilience of database systems.
- Manage database backup, replication, disaster recovery, and incident response processes.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor database health and efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership in addressing complex database-related challenges.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and process improvement within the team.
What we look for:
- 12+ years of extensive experience with large-scale distributed systems alongside the processes , preferably on networking
- 7+ years of proven managerial experience in managing and mentoring engineering teams
- Demonstrated success in working with multiple stakeholders to optimize database access patterns and improve system performance.
- Experience in developing and implementing proactive mechanisms
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
