Our Foundation Accounting team is on the lookout for a talented Senior Accountant to enhance our dynamic team. Ideal candidates will be motivated, self-starters with excellent time-management and organization skills who are excited to work closely with our foundation partners and internal stakeholders. You will utilize your wide-ranging experience to tackle complex situations and be an integral part of the financial reporting process, and budgets and variance analysis while demonstrating attention-to-detail and excellent interpersonal skills.
What you’ll do:
- Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of accounting information
- Prepare monthly accrual entries, account reconciliations and financial reports
- Prepare quarterly reporting packages and variance analysis for multiple entities
- Efficiently handle enormous data sets to meet reporting needs
- Aid with information gathering for annual tax filings
- Liaison with auditors to complete audits efficiently
- Review monthly bank reconciliations and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation
- Initiate opportunities for areas for improvement to current processes
- Develop processes to meeting the growing needs of stakeholders
- Work closely with the Operations team and other key stakeholders
- Other ad hoc reporting and accounting projects as required
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor's degree and CPA accounting designation
- Five (5) years' applicable accounting experience, not-for-profit experience is an asset
- Highly developed ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines under pressure in fast paced environment
- Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting principles and practices, global experience an asset
- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and with a team
- Motivated to learn, question status-quo and encourage change when needed
- Demonstrated attention to detail and well developed problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel
- Advanced knowledge in Google Workspace and Asana is an asset
- Proficiency with accounting software, preference with Sage Intacct and Oracle
- Proven ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
- Experience as an auditor is an asset
