About the team

Engineering recruiting at Databricks comprises a team of talent acquisition specialists dedicated to helping clients identify, attract, and hire the most qualified engineering talent. Our team is geographically distributed, with a presence in the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington, and other remote locations throughout the US. Collectively, we are responsible for identifying, attracting, and recruiting engineering candidates who are transforming Databricks' product development during this critical growth stage. Our clients are the Engineering Leadership Team and their managers. This role will be responsible for building sourcing strategies and pipelines for all Software engineering roles, including Frontend and Backend roles across North America.

The Impact you'll have:

The Engineering Sourcing Manager will partner with engineering hiring managers, technical leaders, and recruiting managers to set and drive strategy, goals, and processes for their sourcing team focused on Backend and Frontend engineering pipelines. This leader will support their team in all aspects of the search process, ranging from preparation for client meetings, including market research and drafting specifications; developing search strategies; identifying, researching, and contacting prospective candidates; creating status reports and candidate assessments; and leading weekly status calls on sourcing deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and lead sourcing strategies specifically for Backend and Frontend engineering pipelines across North America, ensuring alignment with business needs and organizational priorities
  • Partner with engineering stakeholders to continuously refine strategies based on market trends, technology stack developments, and data

Data Driven Decision Making

  • Use analytics to track and measure sourcing performance across engineering pipelines
  • Forecast sourcing performance and progress to goal, providing regular updates to leadership on pipeline health and projected hiring outcomes
  • Review funnel metrics, conversion rates, and market insights to continuously optimize sourcing efforts and adjust strategies as needed

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of sourcing professionals, driving top of funnel success by identifying, engaging, and nurturing high quality engineering candidates across North America
  • Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, inspiring your team to perform at their best
  • Build resources and training to help the team effectively communicate technical opportunities and Databricks’ market position to candidates

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Build strong relationships with engineering hiring managers and technical leaders to ensure sourcing efforts are aligned with hiring goals 
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and recruiting leadership to tackle complex sourcing challenges and build trusted relationships

Candidate Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Develop and implement strategies for candidate queue management and nurture campaigns to maintain engagement with passive talent and build long term relationships

What we're looking for:

  • Background: 8+ years of experience in engineering sourcing or recruiting, with a proven track record of building and scaling teams that successfully source and close top engineering talent
  • Background: 2+ years of technical recruiting leadership experience managing teams of at least 4 people
  • Data Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical skills with experience using data to track sourcing performance, forecast outcomes, and optimize strategies
  • Strategy & Execution: Strong strategic thinking with the ability to develop and execute sourcing strategies for technical roles while coaching team members to achieve goals within tight timelines
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Backend and Frontend technologies to guide team strategy and stakeholder conversations
  • Leadership & Team Development: Metrics and data driven leader who can inspire teams to perform at their best, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Leadership & Team Development: Proven ability to create training programs and learning opportunities that develop team capabilities in technical sourcing, candidate engagement, and market research
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate with engineering leaders at all levels, from first time hiring managers to VPs, to drive recruiting strategies and unblock challenges
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and balancing multiple priorities in a fast paced, high growth technology environment
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage both technical talent and senior stakeholders
