About the role:
Samsara is hiring a Global Supply Planner to oversee the hardware supply planning process for the global market. The Supply Planner will be responsible for developing and maintaining rolling 12-month production & capacity plans for each product and calculating the implications on financial liabilities and inventory level. This is a highly visible role that offers an opportunity to make business-critical decisions that will improve customer service levels while minimizing inventory costs.
This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US except the San Francisco Bay Area and NYC Metro Area. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

In this role, you will:
- Drive appropriate inventory to achieve company objectives on revenue and cost based on the demand plan
- Act in the role of Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a given portfolio of products
- Build strong relationships with regional Planners and serve as the planning liaison with cross functional teams
- Provide actionable supplier production targets taking into account overall capacity, capacity maximization, and tradeoffs in the event of constraints
- Provide recommendations on optimal logistics strategy taking into account demand needs, transit time, and logistics costs
- Monitor supplier performance to requested targets by quarter as well as yield rates and provide feedback on QBRs
- Analyze Samsara and supplier PO issuance to lead time, recommending preventive or corrective action where necessary to optimize for cost and rate of replenishment
- Report performance to targets and communicate inventory risks (excess and shortage)
- As needed, recommend constrained inventory guidance based on company objectives for revenue prioritization, cost minimization, and customer experience
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or Economics.
- 6+ years (or 4+ with Masters) of combined experience in consulting and supply chain planning, supply planning, material planning, or inventory management.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to clearly lay out assumptions, risks, and opportunities.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to quickly synthesize information in a digestible format for a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Attention to detail while never losing sight of the big picture.
- A proactive, positive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, changing priorities, and business volatility.
- Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems.
An ideal candidate also has:
- MBA
- Experience using NetSuite, Salesforce, and e2open
- Electronics manufacturing and vendor relationship management experience
Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles. For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.
We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.
